PSWC was designated as the fifth procurement agency in Punjab during the year 1993, and was assigned the job of procuring wheat and paddy on behalf of Govt. of India for central pooling. The percentage of procurement allotted is 12 % and the target is being achieved accordingly.

As for the year 2004-2005 PSWC procured 10.59 lac Mts of wheat and 12.15 lac Mts of paddy.

The most important aspect of PSWC's procurement is speedy payments to the farmers which takes less than 72 hours after procurement of their agricultural produce.
